If you have astigmatism, a common vision defect caused by an abnormality in the shape of the cornea, you've probably worn glasses or contact lenses for most of your life. What's more, you've probably resigned yourself to the fact that you'll never get rid of them. What if we told you that you could see the world clearly once again, with your own eyes? It's all possible with IOL (Intra-Ocular Lenses). Call NJ Eye and Ear to learn how this cutting-edge technology might be the astigmatism correction solution you've been waiting for!
Cataract Surgery

The "fine print"

It’s important to keep in mind that Medicare or private health insurance usually covers a portion of the costs of cataract surgery and astigmatism-correcting lenses for patients who qualify. Though some out-of-pocket expenses are to be expected with astigmatism-correcting IOLs, they may still save you money in the long run. Consider the long-term benefits of IOLs for your astigmatism correction, and ask if your NJ Eye and Ear surgeon offers a payment plan.

Free yourself from two problems in one procedure

Cataracts and astigmatism often occur together. Whether you have one or the other, or both, the AcrySof® IQ Toric IOL can greatly reduce or even eliminate your need to wear glasses for clear distance. During surgery, your surgeon replaces the cataractous lens in your eye with a new lens, known as an intraocular lens (IOL). Though you will likely still need glasses for reading, you will be able to enjoy more activities with reduced dependency on glasses, including playing golf and driving a car. Call NJ Eye and Ear to determine whether you'd be a good candidate for IOL!
